Oh dear. I just drew 3,3-diethylpentane, and it is a swastika.
First molecules that take on the forms of horses, and now this. I swear, I’m not anti-semitic! :(

It is 5:37 AM at the time of writing. I am trying to prep for my chemistry lab exam, which includes drawing these ridiculous molecules. What’s even more ridiculous is that I don’t know anything in the organic chemistry curriculum, which is extremely bad. I’m trying to fid out the right Fischer projection for some halogenated butane, but I’ve been staring at this question on the Vista quiz for probably 45 minutes trying to figure it out. What the fuck. This makes no sense. I am going delirious and model kits are really hurting my hands. And this halogenated butane molecule drawing looks like a fucking horse every time I draw it.
Murder me. I don’t think I’m going to class tomorrow.

So, here is an excerpt of this David Bartholomae’s “Inventing the University,” the article that I am supposed to write a 300 word summary about that is worth 15% of my English mark:
The writer has located himself (he has located the self that is represented by the I on the page) in a context that is, finally, beyond him, and not his own and not available to immediate procedure for inventing and arranging text.
While the article content is somewhat interesting, I’m not so impressed with the style of the article. Why the hell do so many English things talk about “the self blah.” It just gives me the impression that they are trying too hard. I’ve said this to many people many times: the more ridiculous the bullshit you write for English, the higher mark you will get.
Above is probably my favourite xkcd comic ever. I’m so happy that ENG112 will be the last English course I will ever be forced to take.
